New Year, New Post

So it is the end of January and still the beginning of a new year.  All the holiday decorations have been put away and everyone has gotten back into that everyday swing of work, school, errands, and the like.  Nothing too fancy, nothing too out of the ordinary, for the most part, anyhow.  So now what?

Well, now, for myself, I'm getting back to the grindstone with writing.  Of course, when I say that, it sounds like I'm making it a negative thing.  In actuality, it's not at all and even more, it's the perfect time to do so.  Why not?  It breaks from the monotony of everyday life and allows me back into my own head (which being pregnant at the moment is often a scary and unreliable place).  Before taxes are due and spring sets in, there is little to do besides the normal back and forth, comings and goings of life, so why not bring out the old notebook or writing program and work those stiff, rusty fingers with a little writing magic?  Sure the magic may be a bit congealed and dried out, but a little stretching and molding will bring it back to shape eventually.

Just remember, even if it's not your best writing, doesn't mean it won't eventually yield something interesting.  And when you do break through that foggy haze of sub-par words and phrases, it will be the most glorious sunrise and the new day of writing will cry for more and more as your fingers find their stride and begin their true magic touch of language.

In the meantime, I'm going to sludge through some writing exercises, totally despise most every word I write, and work toward that golden morning.  If you join me, at least you'll know you aren't alone.  For those who have kept steadily writing throughout all the craziness of the past few months, every gold star to you.  And please, share your fire and motivation with us so we can learn to at least attempt to keep up.

For now, let me get to it.
